If there are two things in life that I love, it’s weddings (and engagements!) and babies (and pumpkins, because it is October). Seriously nothing is better. I pathetically still read wedding articles that pop up on Facebook. Why I still click on links that say “10 Things You Don’t Want To Forget The Week Of Your Wedding” or “5 Biggest Mistakes To Avoid On Your Wedding Day” and then proceed to read them thoroughly is beyond me. Professional help is on the horizon.
I love weddings because they are usually such a happy time. Although they can bring up emotions of loss and grievances of what we do not have, they are generally a celebration of love between two people, which is such a miracle in itself. And babies…besides being super cute and fun to look at and play with, are the hope for our future.
Last month, we attended the wedding of my oldest friend, Eunice. I actually did not realize that she is the friend that I have known the longest until my mom sent me this time stamped photo that you simply cannot deny.
Check out our swanky outfits!
We met when we were 2 years old, and have so many fun childhood memories together. I have a couple memories that stick out more than others. The first is Eunice and I baking cupcakes at her house with her mom. I somehow decided it would be a good idea to put the mixer on high into the cake batter and then take it out and wave it around while it was still on. Needless to say, cake batter went EVERYWHERE, and I just sat there in shock thinking…”that wasn’t supposed to happen.” (Sorry, Kuo Mama). We also used to shut ourselves into my room and whisper and play cards. Sorry, Aaron. We locked you out and pretended we had disappeared up into the sky.
Anyway! There are so many details that make up a wedding, and I had so many favorites at this one! First of all, my friend looked stunning!!!! Not only did she have the most beautiful, classic wedding dress, she also took the opportunity to show off a Korean wedding dress and her mom’s qipao, which is a traditional Chinese dress. It was so fun to see those outfits!
How beautiful is this family?!
Other things I loved: The -hooray- cake topper, the string lights on the ceiling–because who doesn’t love string lights?, the mocha tres leches cake -never had anything like this before!, the brussels sprouts-soooo good, the cute non traditional cartoon guestbook, late night Whataburger. Ya’ll! They served honey chicken biscuits and tacos towards the end of the evening! We had such a good time. Yung soaked through his entire shirt and suit jacket, so you know we hit it hard on the dance floor.
This is before all the sweating 🙂
They also chose to use our wedding photographers, whom I am obsessed with, and it was fun to see them again after almost a year.
During that same weekend, we got to visit with our sweet friends who have the SMARTEST baby boy I’ve ever met. He isn’t quite a year and a half and he has 30+ words under his belt. What a champ!Weddings and babies. It doesn’t get better than that.
Congratulations Eunice + Matthew! And thank you for letting us visit, Whitney + Matt!
XO
