Thank goodness for 23 weeks! 5 weeks away from my third trimester, and I can hardly believe it. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve thrown up, and I could not be more thankful. I am taking it hour by hour and truly trying to make each day count. I’m throwing myself into busting my booty at work, working hard at home to get our living space ready for baby boy, while balancing rest and relaxation as well. I figure I will be doing plenty of that once I get bigger, and I want to make the most out of this “honeymoon” trimester as I can. I’m starting to get back on the cooking train as well, so not as much random eating out!
Here’s a quick pregnancy update:
-What am I eating?
I’m pretty much back to my old diet, but going heavier with breakfast and lighter with dinner. I’ve loved homemade egg, spinach, and avocado tacos with salsa for breakfast and plenty of water. This is also when I take my vitamins for the day. Lunch is always salad at work–plenty of greens, a Trader Joe’s Quinoa Cowboy veggie burger, half an avocado, and other veggies such as cherry tomatoes, mushroom, carrots, etc. I toss it all in ranch or some type of vinaigrette, and it’s the perfect meal to fill me up and not make me sleepy for the rest of the afternoon. Snacks recently have consisted of fresh fruit, yogurt, and peanut butter crackers (I make my own). For dinner with my husband, we usually cook something together at home, or have something prepped. Whatever we eat, we try to incorporate plenty of veggies along with our rice and pasta and sometimes a meat.
-How am I exercising?
I’m so happy that going to the gym and taking the dogs for a walk is something I am able to do again. On the days that I am off, the dogs get a 30+ minute walk and go out for several short potty breaks each day. Yung walks them on the days that I work. I try to hit up fitness classes at the gym like I usually do, and always do arm exercises with weights and a nice session of stretching as well. Yung and I are trying to swim more. I’m actually teaching him the basics, so if anyone has any tips for adult learners, that would be much appreciated! I’m also all about getting together with friends for walks. Definitely much less intense exercise than what I am used to, but I am hoping this will keep me healthy throughout my pregnancy.
-What am I loving?
Movement! I am still waiting around for the baby to have more consistent movement, but as of now, it is very inconsistent and I honestly am not sure what I am feeling. Yung has felt him kick once. I was told that I have an anterior placenta, so it may take a few more weeks before I feel something more regularly.
-What am I working on?
Just planning out my life from now until Halloween. We have almost all of our baby education classes scheduled and we are needing to work on the nursery! Yung and I also made a trip to Buy Buy Baby to start registering for baby boy. We didn’t register for our wedding, so it was kind of fun to walk around and scan items we think we would like or need. It was also funny to see Yung react to how much everything costs.
-Do you have a bump?
Yes! The baby has popped out so much in the last few weeks, and my patient’s parents at work are getting bold about commenting about the growing bump. I thought I was hiding it well with loose scrubs, but it is apparently still noticeable. Without clothes, there is a very distinct round belly that sticks out. Nothing fits! My scrub pants are about to be too tight, and I’ve pretty much been living in 2 dresses and workout gear. It’s on my list to shop for some cute new things, but I’m trying to declutter a bit before I add more to my closet.
Hope everyone has a happy weekend!
XO
