Yung and I got engaged on a trip to California in October 2015. Immediately after we returned home, Yung went on vacation to Japan and Thanksgiving and Christmas quickly sped by. We spent the first two months of engagement just enjoying being engaged, and getting our bearings. AKA we really dragged our feet with initiating planning. It was difficult to figure out how to get started. First, we had to decide between having the wedding in Texas vs Louisiana. I had always imagined getting married around a beautiful white plantation under a big oak tree.
Once we finally conceded to having our wedding in the Dallas area, the search for a venue that fit our date began. This was our first big decision, and we quickly learned that it would be a challenge to find an available venue in Dallas that fit our needs and expectations. We desperately wanted an outdoor wedding in the fall, and it seemed like every other place in Dallas was booked, very expensive, or not quite what we were looking for.
One night, Yung googled ‘outdoor wedding Fort Worth’ and found a place called Weston Gardens. We loved the pictures we saw online, and immediately got excited about what we found. We put in an online inquiry and received a call the next day. Somehow, they had most all of October 2016 free, and I quickly scheduled a site visit.
During my first visit to the gardens, I spent over 2 hours there getting to know Mrs. Weston and Nadine. They were so sweet and helpful, I knew immediately that this would be a good fit.
A few weeks later, Yung and I visited the gardens together and finalized our decision!
Weston Gardens is a hidden gem in southeast Fort Worth and I know its growing popularity is going to make it a wedding destination for years to come. The retail and landscaping center is across the street from the venue, which is literally the Weston’s amazing backyard. It is a beautiful space with nooks and crannies to explore and visit.
The outdoor space ultimately won us over, but I was beyond thankful to work with staff that was helpful and accommodating.
Mrs. Weston served as our day-of coordinator, and Nadine helped take care of things behind the scenes.
We loved having our wedding at Weston Gardens and will always be grateful to the Weston’s for sharing their space with us and allowing us to create a day that we will remember forever.
One of my favorite parts of the venue–the twinkly lights. There is nothing better than greenery and twinkly lights, and I hope our future backyard is just as beautiful.
XO.
